About your Ayurvedic Consultation
Ayurvedic medicine has been practiced for more than 5000 years. It’s based on the belief that health and wellness depends on a delicate balance between mind, body and spirit. Ayurveda science states that a person is made of five basic elements found in the universe. These are air, space, fire, water, and earth. They combine in the human body to form three life forces or energies called Doshas. The three Doshas are Vata Dosha (space and air), Pitta Dosha (fire and water), and Kapha Dosha (water and earth). The Doshas control how your body works. Everyone inherits a unique mix of the Doshas, but one is usually stronger than others. Each one controls a different body function. Health issues are linked to the balance of the Doshas.
Vata Dosha (space and air): This is considered to be the most powerful of the doshas. It controls basic body functions, like how cells divide. It also controls your mind, breathing, heart function, blood flow and elimination of waste from the intestines.
Pitta Dosha (fire and water): It controls digestion, metabolism and hormones that are linked to your appetite.
Kapha Dosha (water and earth): Controls muscle growth, body strength and stability, weight and immune system.
When these doshas go out of balance they create imbalances in your body leading to disease. Ayurvedic medicine emphasizes on balancing doshas with different foods, herbs, dietary regimens and lifestyles so you can maintain your health and prevent diseases.
